With a July 5 congressional deadline, advocates seeking to defund Planned Parenthood are intensifying their efforts with new research highlighting concerns over the organization’s funding, patient safety record, and involvement in sex-rejecting interventions.
The American College of Pediatricians (ACP) and American Principles Project (APP) recently released a fact sheet calling on Congress to end federal funding for Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider. The report argues that taxpayers should not subsidize an organization that performs abortions, promotes gender ideology to children, and faces ongoing criticism over patient care practices.
“This resource provides important facts and information on Planned Parenthood as a leading provider of sex-rejecting interventions, a primary distributor of gender ideology sex education, and a serious threat to patient safety,” the organizations stated in a press release accompanying the report.

Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion provider in the US, presents as a non-profit organization with over 50 years of government funding.
“Planned Parenthood has developed itself as a non-profit organization but has a startling annual revenue that exceeds 2 billion,” stated Christa Brown, Senior Director of Medical Impact for Heartbeat International, who oversees the Abortion Pill Rescue Network.
According to Planned Parenthood’s Annual Report, government reimbursements and grants account for nearly 40% of Planned Parenthood’s revenue.
“They have no limits in how they seek funding, charging patients, billing Medicaid, securing grant funding, and soliciting private donors,” Brown said. “Adding sex-rejecting interventions is just another way to bill the American taxpayer.”
Congress must act by July 5, 2026 to prevent Planned Parenthood from regaining federal funding.
ACP was motivated to release this information so that, “With this resource, we hope to inform policymakers and urge Congress to examine important evidence regarding the harms and dangers of Planned Parenthood and remove any taxpayer funding from Planned Parenthood because it participates in the harming of minors.”
Executive Director of ACP, Dr. Jill Simons indicated her concern over the funding and added, “With the release of our new fact sheet, we want to present evidence regarding Planned Parenthood’s harmful and life-threatening practices and urge Congress to defund them.”
“It’s important the Congress uses its spending power responsibly,” said Brown. “There is a falsehood that defunding Planned Parenthood would hinder low-income and rural patients from obtaining needed healthcare. But what would be missing? For those who are seeking routine and preventive health needs, there are far better options.”
Dr. Michelle Cretella, Chair of ACP’s Adolescent Sexuality Committee stated, “Some of these [Planned Parenthood] clinics exploit a legal loophole to affirm minors’ sex-identity distress without parental knowledge or consent. Strong concern regarding the irreversible impacts of these interventions has been growing among major health care institutions and is shared by those seeking to protect children, regardless of political affiliation.”
The same pattern of feeding the abortion business side of Planned Parenthood clinics via sex education in schools is extended to their sex-rejecting services.
As stated on the fact sheet provided by ACP and APP, “Planned Parenthood provides resources and curricula for teaching pre-school children as young as 3 years old about transgender ideology.”
The fact sheet noted the serious threats to patient safety with several documented sources including from the co-founder of the first pediatric gender clinic, Laura Edwards-Leeper. She described Planned Parenthood as “‘not equipped’ to provide these services to minors or young adults.”
Planned Parenthood historically has endangered lives and sex-rejecting services is just the latest iteration.
“In every pregnancy there are two lives to be considered, two patients, two heartbeats. Millions of children have died after mothers depended on this organization to guide their choices. Planned Parenthood has long avoided responsibility to care for their patients with beneficence,” Brown explained.
Supporters of defunding Planned Parenthood argue the organization’s financial structure encourages the expansion of abortion and gender-transition-related services, while other healthcare providers are better positioned to offer routine, preventive, and family-centered care.
Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) and income based clinics provide authentic healthcare. Nationwide, there are Pregnancy Help Medical Clinics providing free, essential life-affirming services.
“The imagined need for Planned Parenthood comes solely from a political agenda, backed by media giants and tech allies, to make abortion readily available,” Brown concluded.
Congress must act to defund Planned Parenthood as the majority of taxpayers do not advocate paying for the ending of human life or sex-rejecting interventions.
Terry Schilling, APP President stated, “We can’t allow our kids to be sterilized and mutilated just so the Gender Industrial Complex can make a pretty penny. True love is stepping into our children’s lives and leading them to the truth: they are perfect just the way God created them.”
