AnattemptatanamicablesolutionintheconflictoverGoldensteinMonasteryinAustriahasfailed:ThethreeelderlyAugustiniannunshaverejectedacompromiseofferfromtheirreligioussuperior,FatherMarkusGrasl,provostofReichersbergAbbey.NowRomeisexpectedtodecide.
“Wearesurprisedanddisappointedbythesisters’decision.WhatGraslalreadysaidiscomingtrue:Nowthenextauthority,namelyRome,willbeinvolved,”Grasl’sspokespersontoldtheAustriannewsagencyKathpress.
ThereligioussuperiorhadpresentedanagreementlastThursdaythatwouldhaveallowedthesisters,whoarebetween81and88yearsold,toremaininGoldenstein.Thisaccommodatedtheirexpressedwish,althoughhecontinuedtopreferplacementinanursinghomeformedicalreasons.
