The state of California does not collect or publish abortion data through its Department of Public Health. The Centers for Disease Control’s 1996 abortion surveillance report was the last to include California data. In response to an inquiry from the Charlotte Lozier Institute (CLI) in October 2019, the Department informed CLI that “California does not collect information on induced termination of pregnancy.” There are no statutory or administrative code requirements in California that require such information to be submitted by abortionists or published by the state.
