CatholicCharitiesoftheArchdioceseofChicagoisusingalobbyingfirmthatsupportspro-abortionpoliticalcandidatesandlobbiesforabortionproviders,raisingconcernsthattherelationshipcouldamounttocooperationwithevilbythecharitableentity.
Since2022,CatholicCharitiesofChicagohascontractedwithCozenO’ConnorPublicStrategiestolobbyonitsbehalfbeforetheStateofIllinois.CozenO’Connorisanationallobbyingfirmwithofficesinmajorcitiesacrossthecountry,includingNewYork;Washington,D.C.;andChicago.
AccordingtotheIllinoisStateBoardofElections,CozenO’Connordonated$3,500in2024toPersonalPAC,apoliticalactioncommitteeinIllinoisthatsupportspro-choicecandidatesatthestateandlocallevels.Thefirmdonated$3,000in2023and$3,500in2024,whileanindividualemployeeofthefirmdonated$1,000in2024andanadditional$1,000in2025tothepro-abortionorganization.
