PopeLeoXIVwillholdameetingofcardinalsonJune13togivethefinalapprovaltothecanonizationsofseveralbeatifiedmenandwomen.
Theordinarypublicconsistory,asitiscalled,willbethefirstofLeo’spontificate.PopeFrancishadcalledfortheconsistoryinlateFebruary,whenhewasinthehospital,butthedatewasneverset.
Attheconsistory,cardinalswillvotetoapprovethecanonizationsoffivebeatifiedmenandwomenwhosecauseswereadvancedearlierthisyearbyPopeFrancis.ThevoteofthecardinalsmarksthefinalstepinthecanonizationprocessandallowsadatefortheMassofcanonizationtobeset.
Amongthealmost-canonizedsaintsexpectedtobediscussedonJune13isBlessedBartoloLongo(alsoknownasBartholomewLongo).
